We invite doctoral researchers to join a discussion with Professor Richard Makadok (Purdue University) on how to make theory contributions in management. The participants will also have an opportunity to apply the insights from the session to their own research and obtain feedback. The event will take place via Zoom and will run in two parts for about 2 hours – you're welcome to join one or both.
Part 1 will consist of a presentation and Q&A. We encourage all participants to work through the following prior to the event:
In part 2, we'll have roundtable discussions to help you apply the insights and obtain feedback from others based on the following:
- Using the taxonomy in the SMJ's Practical Guide essay find a way to make a new theoretical contribution on a topic that interests you
- Using the format from the AMR Editor's Comments, write a two-page introduction for a paper that would make a theoretical contribution.
Those wishing to participate in Part 2, please send a max. 2-page document to Dr Sergey Portyanko, sergey.portyanko@cranfield.ac.uk, by the 15th of September. You will be asked to read and feedback on two similar documents during the roundtables.
Please register here to participate.
