Dear colleagues with an interest in risk,
We are happy to announce our next sub-theme on risk, at the 37th EGOS Colloquium currently scheduled for July 8 – 10, 2021 in Amsterdam: "Sub-theme 58: Organizing in an Era of Riskification".
This sub-theme invites communications that examine contemporary organizing processes in this era of "riskification", in which our risk society is pushed to its paroxysm. The pressing grand challenges of the 21st century, such as pandemics, climate change, geopolitical conflicts, social exclusion and looming ecological/societal collapse, exacerbate the urgency to collectively frame and take action on risks to much of what humanity values. These considerations call for new ways of conceptualizing risk as a multi-level and integrative concept to enrich organization studies, and for the embrace of innovative methods to unpack and theorize the diverse forms of "risk work" required to address societal challenges.
