Road Less Travelled: Research Impact as an Early Career Researcher
    April 23, 2020, 10:30am - 12:00pm (Eastern Daylight Time) Via Zoom

Management research can impact practice. For example, solutions to social issues and grand challenges such as the COVID-19 crisis must also come from social scientists. However, management and organizational researchers lack the capacity and social infrastructure to contribute to positive impact on society.

We are launching the Impact Scholar Community to build this capacity for impact through dialogue and actions. This community is hosted by the ONE division and funded by the support from AOM's Strategic Project Fund. Our efforts to organize this community are timely and began much before the current pandemic crisis. Also, they will continue much after.

We especially invite early-career researchers who increasingly want to have impact with their research. We also invite senior scholars interested in sharing their impact journeys and bolster their impact efforts. Members from all AOM divisions are welcome.

Join us on April 23, 2020, to kick off the Impact Scholar Community. Our first meeting will feature Andy Hoffman (University of Michigan) and Tima Bansal (Ivey Business School) to discuss their stories of impact with and beyond their research. Andy has written about and set an example for researchers to participate in public and political discourse. Tima has connected her research with practitioners through innovative research-practice collaborations. In addition to hearing Andy and Tima's insights, we will discuss how we can support one another as a community of scholars seeking to create positive change.
