Our panel brings together experts from different theoretical perspectives in exploring the role of community in de novo and de alio organizational efforts to address social issues. By spanning a range of perspectives, this panel proposes a shift in management scholars' attention to the diverse ways (institutional pressure, public-private partnerships, collective action, entrepreneurship) in which communities facilitate, frame, and inhibit organizational efforts to address social issues.
