    UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

    I.H. Asper School of Business

    Department of Business Administration

    Business Ethics

    Position Numbers 29483

Applications are invited for one tenure-track or tenured position in Business Ethics, preferably in one of the following three functional areas: (1) Organizational Behavior (OB), (2) Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations (HRIR), or (3) Strategy, in the I. H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. The appointments will be open rank, though preference will be given to candidates at the Associate rank. The successful candidate will also be considered for the Morantz Professorship in Business Ethics (five-year renewable term). This Professorship was made possible through a donation to the University of Manitoba by Mr. Richard Morantz and Sheree Walder Morantz. The appointment start date is July 1, 2021.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in their area of specialization, or a closely related field. Business ethics research is broadly defined as scholarly work that examines ethical/moral principles, practices, and problems that arise in a business environment. Some examples of research topics in this area include: ethical decision making, ethical leadership, ethical climate, morality, diversity, equity, discrimination, HR systems supporting business ethics, corruption, corporate social responsibility, and ecological sustainability.

We are seeking outstanding candidates at any rank. At the assistant rank, candidates must display a promising research agenda in business ethics and their field of specialization (i.e., HRIR, OB, or Strategy) and experience or interest in teaching in related subareas. At the associate and the full rank, candidates must demonstrate a strong research record of high-quality publications in business ethics, established research program with evidence of ongoing research productivity, and successful experience in academic teaching. Additional qualifications for the Morantz Professorship include: recognized as a leader in their field; demonstrated evidence of external research grant funding, and demonstrated evidence of successful graduate student supervision.

Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, student mentorship and supervision, and professional service for the School, the University, and the community.  The normal teaching load at the Asper School is four courses (e.g., 2 + 2), while the Morantz Professorship in Business Ethics, if awarded, will come with one course release. Salary is competitive and salary and rank will depend on qualifications, experience as well as research and teaching records.

Please state clearly in your cover letter which area you are in and which rank you are applying for.
