Bridging Leadership Research on Boards of Directors and Top Management Teams
    Sponsor: STR
    When: Saturday, Jul 31, 2021, 1:30PM - 3:00PM ET (UTC-4)

Overview: This PDW aims to extend conversations between scholars in the TMT and board of director literature. Given the interconnected nature of organizational leadership, it is our humble opinion that facilitating interaction between these two fields will enhance our understanding of how decisions are made by strategic leaders in firms. By promoting interaction between two traditionally dichotomized fields, this session aims to encourage a holistic understanding of how interactions between top managers and boards of directors affect strategic decision making. Interested participants are encouraged to come in with some initial stage ideas involving the topics of the PDW. Through interacting their ideas with established micro and macro scholars, participants are expected to leave the session with a set of research questions that would serve to pave the way for future operational research.

Topics and participants: This PDW will focus on four broad topics (italicized in bold below) that have caught the interest of both micro and macro level leadership scholars. A team of two experts (one in the micro-field and one in the macro-field) will guide discussion on the topic and facilitate the fruitful generation of novel research ideas during the session.
