The Organizational Design Community (ODC) invites you to the following webinar:

New Frontiers in Understanding and Managing Organizational Culture

    Jennifer Chatman and Sameer Srivastava

30th March 2023, Thursday at 11am Eastern Time

This talk will explore the intersections of technology, culture, and organizational success. We will highlight new methods for measuring different facets of culture and illustrate how they can shed new light on the drivers of individual, group, and organizational performance. Applications of these methods to such topics as post-merger cultural integration, cognitive diversity in groups, team composition, and innovation will be discussed.

    About the Speakers:

Jennifer Chatman is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Paul J. Cortese Distinguished Professor of Management with the Haas Management of Organizations Group at UC Berkeley. She teaches, researches and consults on leveraging organizational culture, leading change and managing complex teams. Chatman is the C0-Director of the Berkeley Haas Cultural Center, Editor-in Chief for the journal Research in Organizational Behavior (2019-2022), and runs the Leading Strategy Execution Through Culture executive education program. Sameer B. Srivastava is the Ewald T. Grether Professor of Business Administration and Public Policy at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and is also affiliated with UC Berkeley Sociology. His research unpacks the complex interrelationship among the culture if social groups, the cognition of individuals within these groups, and the connections that people forge within and across groups. Much of his work is set in organizational context, where he uses computational methods to examine how culture, cognition and networks relate to career outcomes. His work has been published in journals such as American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Administrative Science Quarterly,  Management Science and Organizational Science. It has been covered in media outlets such as The New York Times, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Forbes. Sameer co-directs the Berkeley Culture Initiative and the Berkeley- Stanford Computational Cultural Lab.
