The Online MBA program at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan is currently seeking a part-time Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) to support Strategy 533 for the Winter term (mid-December 2024 to May 31st 2025) for a total of approximately 400 hours (salary range: $36-38 per hour).
Strategy 533 is the core strategy course in our Online MBA program. It covers core strategy material such as evaluating the external environment, evaluating internal capabilities, business strategy (cost leadership and differentiation), corporate strategy (vertical integration, diversification), growth strategy, strategic change, disruptive innovation, strategy implementation, and corporate social responsibility. The online program includes both asynchronous (on-demand) course material and synchronous (classroom) sessions.
Responsibilities
The ISS supports both the Faculty Lead of the course and students. Specific responsibilities include:
- Primary on demand contact for questions from students; provide one-on-one explanations of asynchronous course content and concepts via email, phone, or other remote methods.
- Objective grading of assignments and exams.
- Other non-instructional duties as determined by faculty.
The ISS may also work in advance of the course offering to assist in the administrative tasks of course development:
- Proofreading copy on the Canvas site
- Performing quality assurance on technology (for example, making sure that outside links are working and link to the correct websites)
- Making sure assignments, quizzes and exams are loaded properly
Qualifications
- Graduate degree or graduate coursework in business or business-related field.
- Knowledge and interest in strategy. Having taught strategy at the undergraduate or graduate level is a big plus.
- Experience with online education preferred
