  • 1.  Tips for teaching online at short notice

    Dear colleagues,

With our students being asked to stay at home, many of us need to move quickly to online-only teaching. As part of my recent service on the Teaching Committee of the Strategic Management Division, I published some information on our Division's website about how some faculty members have been teaching strategy online. I'm providing links to that information below, and I hope that they will help with your transition:

    • For content that you will need to provide online, you may want to leverage Professor Anita McGahan's excellent explanatory videos on Industry Analysis, Competitive Positioning, and Corporate Strategy, available on Youtube at this link

    • For ideas on how to do online teaching, including tips on bringing the live "case study method" online, see Professor Pinar Ozcan's description of her online-only course here

    • If there are parts of your course that simply won't work online, and you need to replace content, I recommend you to check out Professor Regina Herzlinger's free Massive Online Open Course at this link, from which you can borrow short modules. You can read about the course modules here.

Best wishes to all of you during this challenging period,

Thank you, Hakan! I've added these suggestions to the Resources page for reference. I know we all appreciate these tips during this uncertain time.
