The Academy of Management Review is organizing a new IDW (Idea Development Workshop) in Medellín, Colombia, in partnership with EAFIT. The IDW will happen on December 3, 2024.
In addition to traditional panels with AMR associate editors and discussion groups where participants can submit their paper ideas and receive feedback, we will have two important innovations.
First, we will create a pilot program where the most advanced proposals will receive subsequent support for approximately one year - mentoring sessions and feedback with an associate editor or member of the editorial board. The idea is to create a process that allows participants to refine their proposals in successive cycles of interaction (publication not guaranteed, though; papers will have to go though the regular submission process).
Second, we will organize an interactive session between the IDW participants and organizations in Medellín that are involved with cultural projects. Our objective is to discuss how to generate new and exciting theories from diverse local and social contexts. This should be a very interesting and rich immersion on how to pursue innovative theorizing based on problems and contexts commonly found in emerging markets.
For participants who have difficulty covering their travel expenses or traveling during that period, we will also offer the possibility of online participation in part of the program.
