    Job description

    The Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) of the University of Geneva, a prestigious institution, is opening a 100% Research and Teaching Assistant position for the Institute of Management (IoM). The Institute of Management, home to more than 30 renowned researchers in the core areas of management, is a diverse group of scholars who engage in research on a wide range of topics relevant to business and policymakers in the era of globalization and digitalization. Our research results, published in leading academic journals, are at the forefront of our field. We also actively share our insights with the broader community through teaching and collaboration with practitioners. The Institute of Management, a leader in academic programs on the Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. levels, is a leading provider of Executive Education.

    The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enroll in GSEM's PhD in the Management program and write a doctoral thesis in Organization Theory / Strategic Management under the co-supervision of Prof. Patrick Haack, HEC, University of Lausanne, and Prof Thomas Straub, GSEM, University of Geneva. This program is designed to foster personal growth and development. Participation in research projects may also be required, providing a comprehensive learning experience.

    In addition, the selected candidate will be the Teaching Assistant for various courses, such as Introduction to Management, Change Management, and Strategic Management, at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Executive levels. The tasks involve, for instance, running tutorials, preparing exam questions, grading exams, and supervising master's theses.

     

    The chosen candidate will be hired on a 2-year renewable contract, offering a potential for long-term career growth and development. The position has a maximum duration span of 5 years. The first 3 months are a probatory period during which both parties can terminate the working agreement with a 1-month notice period.

    Job qualifications & requirements

                      Master's degree in management or in a related social science discipline (administrative science, communication science, political science, psychology, sociology, etc.).

                      Strong analytical and methods skills, such as lab and field experiments, network analysis, QCA, computational simulation, and natural language processing.

                      Motivation, self-discipline, and proactiveness to complete a doctoral thesis.

                      Prior knowledge of the organization theory and/or strategic management literature.

                      A genuine interest in academic research.

                      Fluency in English (both oral and written).

    Starting Date

    Sep 1st, 2024, or date to be agreed upon.

                      The (intermediate) grade report of your MA and BA degree.
