Call for chapters for an edited book
We are pleased to announce the call for chapters for an edited book entitled:
CSR Today: Progress or Regression?
(Gabriel Donleavy and Carlos Noronha, co-editors)
Areas involved: CSR, social accounting, sustainability, environment, critical management, new theoretical aspects, partial reporting of empirical results leading to further theoretical development, critical incidents and crises or natural disasters.
Today, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainable development, the circularity of economic activity inter alia, are well established at both the organizational level and at the national and international levels. However, within the myriad of studies in the available literature, a question remains unanswered. That is, has CSR been implemented principally as a window-dressing technique, principally as a way to enhance such traditional indicators of corporate performance net earnings, or principally as an authentically ethical implementation of genuinely held beliefs in the validity of the claims of society and of future generations on present day leaders?
The question has been addressed by a plethora of theories, ranging through political economy theory, legitimacy theory, stakeholder theory, signalling theory, theories derived from religious beliefs, ethics theories such as care theory and virtue ethics, public relations and media management theories, regulation theory and jurisprudence. The focus of this book is to clarify the evidence and to deconstruct the arguments from both theory and from empirical studies that will move us further forward in answering the question posed at the end of the paragraph above.
Accordingly, the scope of the book includes the following topics.
l Zoological issues in CSR and sustainability
l Effects of different forms of corporate governance (e.g. NGOs and NPOs ) on CSR behavior
l Certifications (such as the so called 'B Corporation') and CSR
l Newest advances in SDGs versus the IFRS sustainability codes
l Political effects (such as deniers of COVID-19 and climate change) on CSR
l CSR in less developed countries as well as developing countries
l New theories to explain why organizations engage in CSR
l Green initiatives as real circular economy or window-dressing?
l Such new report formats as the GRI and Integrated Accounting
l Any topic that contributes to shedding light on why and where CSR is adopted
Interested contributors are invited to submit their expressions of interest in a 500- (+/- 100) word abstract of the proposed chapter and a brief resume (300 to 1200 words). Please submit the information in Word file to our book coordinator Prof. Carlos Noronha (fbacn@um.edu.mo) by 11 July 2021. After prompt review by the co-editors and external reviewers, selected contributors will receive an invitation to submit the full manuscript for the chapter. The complete chapter manuscript is to be submitted tentatively before 9 January 2022.

l Length: 6,000-8,000 words (including all abstracts and references)
l Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
l APA style for references
