Please join us at the upcoming #STRongerTogether Virtual Symposium of the Strategic Management (STR) Division titled “A Scientific Approach to Strategic Decision Making.
Overview:
During the session, we will explore the recent developments of research on decision making applied to the context of strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The session will start with two presentations about “scientific approach to decision making”, an approach to managerial decisions under uncertainty that is based on a rigorous framing of the problem and the development of a theory and hypotheses that relate to the logical connections between antecedents and consequences of actions, and that then tests these hypotheses using existing data or data drawn from well-defined experimental designs. After the opening presentations, two scholars who are experts on research on decision making will react to the presentations and broaden the debate by reflecting on how the specific approach presented relates to the field of strategic decision making, the challenges and opportunities, the unanswered questions the field could focus on, and the methodological issues.
