Take a look at Clark Gilbert's and my new book, "From Resource Allocation to
Strategy." (Oxford University Press) It deals exactly with the relationship
of strategic process to strategy content.

Subject: Identifying Prevailing School of Thought in Organization's Strategy
Hello Everyone:
I am beginning a research project to identify the "prevailing" strategic
process/school of thought in the organization (e.g. deliberate, publicized
by Porter, emergent, publicized by Mintzberg,
etc.), "pervasiveness/continuity" of the prevailing process (has it
changed over time), and the "impact" on the attainment of organizational
strategic objectives and performance (correlation or lack of between the
strategic process in the organization and its success). The research
project will involve significant number of companies in an European
country.
I am looking for an instrument which can be used to identify
the "prevailing" strategic process/school of thought in the organization.
If there is such an instrument, I will very much appreciate it if you
could point me to it. Furthermore, if you have already used it, I will
also be very interested in your experiences and comments in this endeavor.
I will appreciate it very much if you can directly contact me by email at
alev@usfca.edu or by telephone at (415) 422-6389. Thank you for your time.
