I need to design a PhD course on the "Foundations of Management". One possible approach to design such a course would be to use the most cited articles in Management. I have seen articles listing the most cited articles in Finance, but I have not seen a recent list of the 30-50 most cited articles in the top Management journals. Do you know where I could find such a list?

I am not sure if the evaluation of these papers would meet the criteria you have in mind, but this link will take you to a list of the "top 100 peer reviewed articles" published in AMJ from 1981 to 2001.

There is a paper in the international journal of organizational analysis in 2001 that from a citation point of  view analyses the different trends in management. A couple of papers that are forthcoming also use a similar procedure. The first one will apper in SMJ and analyses the RBV, the other one will appear in JMS and will look at the co-authorship between the most cited authors in management. If you are interested in them please contact me.
