I am looking for examples / case studies where the strategy failed because 1. it was not communicated or 2. not properly communicated or 3. not understood by the employees. Please share. Thank you for your help in advance.

    Kind regards

    Dear Rajesh,
From your email I understand that you expect that (at least) three conditions are necessary for a successful strategy: 1. the strategy is communicated, 2. the strategy is properly communicated, and 3. the strategy is understood by the employees. If one of these single conditions is missing, the strategy will fail (however the presence of a single condition will not produce success because more is needed for that).
This is the logic of necessary but not sufficient conditions.
If you are looking for cases to test such hypotheses, it makes no sense to analyse failure cases. In the failure case the necessary but not sufficient condition can be absent or present, so the failure case is not conclusive about such hypothesis.
Necessary but not sufficient condition hypotheses can be tested with successful cases. The hypothesis states that the necessary conditions is present in all successful cases; if not, the hypothesis is rejected.
More information about this logic and its case selection procedure can be found on this website: www.erim.nl/nca and during the AOM in Anaheim (PDW Program Session 322)
    Best wishes,
    Jan

The world War II battle of Pearl Harbor illustrates how poor communications contributed greatly to the U.S defeat.

I have had a few students that worked for Penny share their experience in class. The common thread in their stories: they were either clueless or not convinced about what was going on.

    Hope this helps,
