We would like to draw your attention to the Academy PDW on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). Since 2006, this annual PDW at the Academy has offered an introduction to QCA for faculty and particularly for PhD students hoping to acquire the skills necessary for QCA and fs/QCA (the fuzzy set version of QCA). No registration is required, but those who register will have access to handouts and readings prior to the workshop--details on the registration are below. Our apologies for cross-posting.

Given the success of this PDW over the past three AOM conferences, which drew approximately 70 participants in Philadelphia, Anaheim, and Chicago, respectively, we again offer this workshop on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and fuzzy-set (fsQCA) set-theoretic methodologies. The workshop aims to bring together a variety of scholars ranging from those who are new to this methodological approach to those who have extensive experience working with it to those who want to draw upon the conceptual logic behind QCA for their theory development. To accommodate this range of interests, we offer a two-track system for beginners and advanced users. The beginner track will include an introductory session providing a general overview of the set theoretic methodologies and their conceptual logic. The advanced track will focus on the needs of more experienced users and offer the opportunity for participants to receive consultation regarding their ongoing research projects using QCA. The goal of the PDW is to expand and deepen the ties of a community of researchers doing set-theoretic analysis across a variety of areas in organizations and strategy research.

Although we do not require it, we strongly recommend pre-registration for this workshop. Those who register will be emailed preparatory reading beforehand. Furthermore, in their registration email participants should indicate a) which track they would like to attend (beginner or advanced) and b) suggest topics that they would like to discuss. Please send registration emails to fiss@marshall.usc.edu.
