We would like to draw your attention to the AoM PDW on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). This workshop offers a hands-on introduction to QCA for faculty and particularly for PhD students hoping to acquire the skills necessary for QCA and fs/QCA (the fuzzy set version of QCA). No registration is required, but those who register will have access to handouts and readings prior to the workshop. Details as below. Our apologies for cross-posting.

Organizer: Peer C. Fiss; U. of Southern California; Organizer: Thomas Greckhamer; Louisiana State U.; Organizer: Rodney Lacey; Emory U.; Organizer: Vilmos F. Misangyi; Pennsylvania State U.; Given the success of this PDW over the past four AOM conferences-with average attendance over the past four years of around 65 participants-we again offer this workshop on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and fuzzy-set (fsQCA) set-theoretic methodologies. The workshop aims to bring together a variety of scholars ranging from those who are new to this methodological approach to those who have extensive experience working with it to those who want to draw upon the conceptual logic behind QCA for their theory development. To accommodate this range of interests, we have successfully offered a dual-tracked system over the past two meetings that serves two groups of participants: beginners and knowledgeable users. The beginner track will include an introductory session providing a general overview of set theoretic methodologies and their conceptual logic and break-out sessions centered upon giving attendants hands-on experience in how to get started with running the software and interpreting results. The second track will focus on the needs of more experienced users and provide participants with the opportunity to receive consultation regarding their ongoing research projects using QCA/fsQCA. The goal of the PDW is to expand and deepen the ties of a community of researchers doing set-theoretic analysis across a variety of areas in organizations and strategy research. Although not required, we strongly recommend pre-registration for this workshop. Those who register will be emailed preparatory reading beforehand. Please send registration emails to fiss@marshall.usc.edu. |
