Call for expressions of interest at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca in Milano (Italy)
The Department of Economics, Management and Statistics (DEMS) of the University of Milano-Bicocca invites expressions of interest for the following positions in the area of Management:
- Research Fellow (3-year fixed-term position)
- Assistant professor (tenure track position)
- Associate professor (permanent position).
Particular attention will be given to candidates with an excellent research record and high teaching skills who are willing to cooperate in pursuing the Department's research agenda.
DEMS is one of the top-rated Italian departments in Economics, Management and Statistics and it has been the recipient of a big competitive funding granted by the Italian Ministry of Universities, Education and Research (MIUR) under the Italian Departments of Excellence program.
DEMS employs a group of 59 full-time faculty members, as well as 39 postdocs and PhD students. The department is committed to investing heavily in the ongoing development of its faculty and its management division. The research and teaching area of the Department includes theoretical and applied economics, marketing and strategic management. DEMS faculty members have published in top-tier general and field journals such as American Economic Review, Economic Journal, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Annals of Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, European Economic Review, Industrial and Corporate Change, International Journal of Industrial Organization, International Journal of Central Banking, Journal of International Economics, Management Science, Research Policy and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
DEMS is setting up two new research centers – the Center for European Studies CEfES and the Big Data Lab and hosts the Laboratory of Experimental Economics (EELAB) and the Applied Statistics Center (B-ASC). It also contributes to the Bicocca Center of Science and Technology for Food (Best4Food) the Milan Center for Neuroscience (NeuroMi), and the UniData – Bicocca Data Archive. Expressions of interest should be sent electronically only to dems@unimib.it and must indicate 'call for expressions of interest' in the email subject line. You should include your CV and a short letter that explains your interest and specifies which position you intend to apply for. Reference letters or other documents are not required at this stage.
Although there is no formal deadline for the expressions of interest, an early assessment is expected to start by mid-April 2018. Successful applicants will be contacted to work on the application.
We will treat expressions of interest confidentially and are committed to hold exploratory talks with prospective candidates before opening formal procedures for applications.
The salary is within a range established by the Italian academic system regulations. A four-year tax exemption on 90 percent of the salary is available according to the Italian tax law for those candidates who have been residing outside Italy for 2 years or more and a salary top-up is offered to assistant professors (tenure track) upon evaluation of their research results.
