    Dear BPS netters,

I am searching for articles and research/studies on centers and institutes in higher education to supplement the surprisingly very limited material I have been able to find thus far.

I would greatly appreciate any cites or leads.

Our group is studying centers and institutes in higher education with the following goals:

-to determine the extent to which and how different types of higher ed institutions (research universities, colleges, community colleges, etc.) use centers and institutes to achieve their institutional goals
-to develop a taxonomy to classify different types of centers and institutes
-to better understand the goals, activities and outcomes of centers and institutes
-to better understand sources of funding for centers and institutes
-to identify best practices (if possible)

Our initial research is fairly broad and exploratory in order to determine what, if any, patterns we can detect in the way centers and institutes are organized, managed, reported on, etc.

It is our intent to focus more narrowly on centers and institutes that have a connection to business, although we hope to learn from centers and institutes related to other areas.

    Thanks!
    Peter
