    ASSISTANT PROFESSORHIPS (1 or more positions depending on candidates)

    ROSKILDE UNIVERSITY, DENMARK

     

    The Department of Social Science and Business (ISE), Roskilde University, invites applications for one or more fixed-term (3 years) position(s) as assistant professor(s) in business administration, with a focus on: Strategy, Leadership, HRM, or Marketing. The position is available from December 1st, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. After three years, successful assistant professors may have the option to apply for an associate professorship.

    Applicants matching the following profile will be preferred:

    • Research profile within one of the following research areas: Business strategy; Leadership and/or HRM; Social marketing and/or marketing
    • Ability to teach and supervise in Danish
    • Strong methodological skills
    • Interest and experience in project-based teaching and research in an interdisciplinary environment


    Responsibilities and tasks:

    The Assistant professor's duties will primarily include research (including publication/academic dissemination duties) and research-based teaching (with associated examination duties) in the Business Studies and Business Administration teaching programmes (Danish and/or English), and our Social Science bachelor programme (Danish and/or English). Assistant professors have a reduced teaching load.


    The successful candidate is expected to accomplish:

    • research, meeting international standards,
    • contribute to the development of the research profile of the department
    • engage in external fundraising to increase funds for the department
    • play an active role in developing new teaching methods
    • participate in the department's communication with the broader public
    • take responsibility for the long-term well-being of the department
    • contribute to the administrative responsibilities of the department

     

    Qualifications:

    Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in an appropriate field. You are also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills and to be a visible, active participant in the department's daily activities, in addition to being willing to engage in disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration across the department.

    Successful candidates who do not speak Danish (or possibly Swedish or Norwegian) will be requested to acquire the necessary skills in Danish within the first two years of service, so as to ensure that they can participate satisfactorily in teaching activities as well as in academic and administrative activities at the University. At the time of appointment, successful candidates must master English for academic purposes.     Assessment:

    In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to;

    • relevance of research interests to the call,
    • scientific production and research potential at an international level,
    • the ability to teach and supervise in Danish (see above),
    • some experience in teaching and education development and management,
    • ability to contribute to the development of the department's internal and external cooperation.

    Terms of employment:
    The position will be filled according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The position is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
