Tamy,
Interestingly, someone has at least attempted monetary computation: Gomez-Mejia and Balkin (1992). It touches various interesting issues, but the snippet conclusion that every scholar of the field may keep in mind is that they value a top tier article at a cumulated (lifetime) value of ... $84 134. Now, that's incentive! ;-)
The journal ranking/tier literature is very large, you should find good reviews around.

Objet : What's a publication worth?
Importance : Haute
Hello,
I am trying to find research that puts a "value" on academic publications, preferably those in a business discipline. This can either be monetary value or career specific value, such as influence on marketability. I am also interested in differences in publication "value" from a journal rankings/tier perspective. Thanks in advance for any help!
