Some of my first-year MBA students have requested summer reading suggestions to go beyond the materials in the Strategy course, especially including recent work (though I'll probably give them some classics as well.) If you've created such a list or can suggest some articles or books that would resonate with MBAs but probably wouldn't be included in a first strategy course, please respond to dettington@psu.edu. I'll summarize any suggestions for the list.
    Best regards,
    Debbie

Thank you to the 14 folks who took the time to send suggestions for a summer reading list for MBA students. I received a number of interesting suggestions for books and articles, recent and classic. The attachment includes a summary of the books suggested that were published in the past 5 years (because my students asked for "recent" stuff). Interestingly, only "Blue Ocean Strategy" was mentioned twice, all other suggestions were unique. So much to read, so little time... Enjoy.
    Best regards,
    Debbie

Thanks Deborah – the revised book-chapter opening for Strategic Management Dynamics to which you refer can be downloaded from www.strategydynamics.com/smd-new-start. This includes an important correction to the explanation of free cash-flow on p.27 that was unfortunately introduced when the document was laid out.
