2010 BPS New Faculty Consortium
August 7, 2010
The Business Policy and Strategy Division will sponsor a New Faculty Consortium during the preconference period of the 2010 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Montreal. The objective of the consortium is to enhance the scholarship, teaching, and overall career development of faculty in the early stages of their career. The consortium provides an excellent forum for exchanging ideas and tips concerning teaching and research as well as for expanding one's academic network. The New Faculty Consortium will be held on Saturday, 7 August from 8:00AM to 5:30PM.
Last summer's New Faculty Consortium, which was chaired by Peter Roberts (Emory) and Nicolaj Siggelkow (Wharton), drew over 20 participants as well as ten faculty panelists.
The Co-Chairs for the 2010 consortium are Sendil Ethiraj (Michigan) and Nicolaj Siggelkow (Wharton). The faculty facilitators include: Rajshree Agarwal (Illinois), Laurence Capron (INSEAD), Quy Huy (INSEAD), Arturs Kalnins (Cornell), Ritta Katila (Stanford), David Obstfeld (NYU), and Dennis Yao (Harvard). There will be an editor's panel with representatives from leading strategy and management journals including AMJ, AMR, Management Science, Organization Science and SMJ.
To qualify, participants must have completed their dissertation by September 2009 and are typically in the first through the third year of their academic career, or have recently moved into the Strategic Management/Business Policy field. In addition, a participant should have a record of commitment to teaching and research in the Strategy/Business Policy field and not have participated in prior BPS New Faculty Consortia. Those interested in participating should apply no later than 15 May, 2010 by submitting the following items: 1) a current CV, 2) a statement of teaching and research interests (one page maximum in total), and 3) a letter from the applicant's Dean or Department Chair nominating the applicant to represent their school at the New Faculty Consortium. Applications should be sent to:
