    Visiting Professor Position in Strategic Management

    The Department of Management & Organizations at the University of Iowa, Henry B. Tippie College of Business invites applicants for a 1-2 year visiting position in Strategic Management at the Assistant or Associate professor rank. Appointment at Assistant or Associate levels will be based on experience and record of achievement. New hires are expected to start by August 19, 2015.

    Qualifications: Required qualifications for all applicants include an earned doctorate (by August 19, 2015) and a demonstrated high level of teaching competence. Preference will be given to experienced candidates who have taught strategic management and/or global business. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated interest in and capacity to do research publishable in top-tier management journals.

    Department: The Management & Organizations department has 13 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 1 clinical professor, and 4 Lecturers, with additional faculty in Entrepreneurship. The department offers undergraduate majors in Human Resource Management, Leadership and Management, and Entrepreneurial Management. The department houses the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, the first in the nation to bring together students and faculty in engineering, business, and the medical sciences. Our undergraduate program has been recognized as a National Model Program by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Additionally, the university is regularly rated as one of the top 25 Entrepreneurship programs in the United States by Entrepreneur Magazine and The Princeton Review.

    The department is known for its excellence in research and teaching. Faculty members in the department regularly serve as editors of major journals in the field (including former editors of Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) and Academy of Management Learning and Education, a current Associate Editor at AMJ, and several former Associate Editors at Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management). Faculty members have won numerous top research awards, and maintain leadership positions in multiple divisions of the Academy of Management. The department has also been recognized for teaching effectiveness, with numerous collegiate and University teaching awards. Department members work actively with doctoral students in research and publishing activities.     College and Community: The Henry B. Tippie College of Business is housed in the John Pappajohn Business Building, which features the Marvin A. Pomerantz Business Library, technology-equipped classrooms, and a behavioral research lab. The Iowa City area community includes Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, and other small towns with a total population of about 100,000. The University both provides and attracts a wide variety of cultural opportunities, Big Ten athletic events, and a number of business endeavors resulting from scientific and educational research that originated at the University of Iowa. Excellent public schools, close neighborhoods, and a highly educated population mean that Iowa City frequently appears high on “best-place-to-live” listings in national magazines. Twenty miles to the north is Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s second-largest city, home to the Eastern Iowa Airport and a population of about 120,000.
