    Dear friends,

    Those who are teaching business subjects through online media, or who are studying the e-learning industry might be interested in the following workshop:

    The UOC's Economics and Business Department, the MeL (Management & eLearning) research group and the University's eLearn Center present the III Workshop in Business, Economics and e-Learning, which will be held in Barcelona on 23 October.

    The workshop is intended to foster exchanges of ideas and experiences involving the field in which business and economics meet e-learning, a crossing of paths that encompasses the following subject areas:
     

    The focus for the 2015 workshop is the online teacher:
     

    • Analysis of the teaching roles in e-learning
    • Tutoring
    • The competence profile of online teachers
    • Motivation and commitment of online teachers
    • Teams of online teachers
    • Models for contracting and compensating online teachers
    • Professional development and training of online teachers

    E-learning for economics and business studies disciplines at any level of education:
     

    • Development of interpersonal and other generic skills
    • Learning of quantitative subjects
    • Use of synchronous communication
    • Experience-based learning: placements and projects with companies, recognition of professional experience
    • Use of simulators
    • Use of social networks
    • Personalized e-feedback

    The e-learning economy:
     

    • E-learning as an industry
    • Effectiveness and efficiency of e-learning
    • The level of acceptance of e-learning in the labour market
    • The contribution of e-learning to development
    • Management of online universities

    Management of organizations offering e-learning:
     

    • Organizational structure of organizations offering e-learning
    • Costs for e-learning providers
    • Leadership in online education institutions
    • Quality assurance

    E-learning in the organizational and businesss world:
     

    • E-learning for employee training in the workplace
    • Barriers and aids to adoption of e-learning
    • Detection of needs and design of actions for e-learning
    • Management of e-learning in companies and institutions
    • The position of e-learning in specific industries

    The above list is by no means exhaustive. Papers on other topics within the general framework established are welcome.


    Key dates

    7 Septembre 2015: Deadline for abstract submission.

    15 September 2015: Notification of acceptance of papers.

    Up to 21 October 2015: Registration process
