This PDW will discuss the development and efficacy of strategic governance practices between developed and emerging economies. We will consider ownership structure, board monitoring, and managerial compensation of public firms in the economies and identify critical institutional factors underlying the convergence and variations in the evolution and efficacy of the governance practices. The goal is to use cross-disciplinary insights to develop a sharper understanding of institutional boundaries for strategic governance practices that affect investor-manager relations and, in turn, shape firm and economic competitiveness.
Format: Brief introduction from the participating scholars of basic patterns in governance practices, followed by a moderated panel and break-out sessions with the scholars to consider the trends in market and non-market institutions that underlie the evolving patterns.
We look forward to having you engaged in the panel. See you soon in Vancouver!
