Open-Rank Strategic Management Position

The Management Department at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina invites applications and nominations for an open rank tenure-track or tenured position in Strategic Management. We invite applications from scholars interested in any domain area in strategic management. The position requires a doctoral degree in management or a related field, the ability to do high quality research that will have a major impact on the field of management, and the ability to effectively teach specialized and required courses in management at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in strategic management and/or allied disciplines (e.g., economics, sociology, psychology) and will build on existing strengths within the department. Candidates must possess a doctorate or expect to complete the doctorate by August 2015. Potential applicants for all ranks are encouraged to apply. For candidates at a more senior rank, the position requires an extensive record of publications in leading journals. For candidates at a more junior rank, the position requires a demonstrated potential to develop a meaningful stream of research at leading journals. Our department is recognized for its collegiality, diverse yet synergistic research streams, and active and collaborative research climate.
The Management Department spans the areas of Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resources Management. Darla Moore School of Business is the beneficiary of one of the largest private donations to a U.S. business school, and having received combined gifts of $70 million from business executive Darla Moore, our school has recently moved to a new $100 plus million dollars LEED Platinum certified building with a rooftop faculty garden. Known for leadership in international business, the Darla Moore School of Business is home to a Center for International Business and Education Research (CIBER). The undergraduate program in international business is consistently ranked No. 1 for that category by the U.S. News and World Report, while the graduate program in international business is consistently ranked No. 1 or No. 2. The Management Department houses the Riegel & Emory HR Center, the Faber Entrepreneurship Center, and a brand new Center for Executive Succession. Through these research centers and college funds, the Darla Moore School of Business provides internal research funding for faculty in support of a wide spectrum of research projects in management.
