The Department of Management in the LeBow College of Business, Drexel University, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in Strategy and Technology Innovation Management beginning in fall 2019. The Department expects research leading to publications in top tier journals. Salary, teaching loads, and other types of research support are competitive with other research universities.
Drexel University is nestled within "University City", Philadelphia, which is one of the most vibrant cities in the US with a rich academic cluster. The strategy group in LeBow College of Business consists of highly productive faculty members who use a broad set of epistemological approaches but also share a common interest in the strategic facets of technology and innovation. The group is housed in the Management Department and collaborates closely with the organization behavior group on issues associated with strategic leadership and innovation. The strategy group has also cultivated strong ties with the School of Economics, Department of Sociology, and the Close School of Entrepreneurship. The Department boasts a collaborative, collegial, and supportive culture. The Department sponsors a formal research seminar series, and regular but informal paper development workshops for both faculty members and doctoral students.
Candidates are expected to teach in our newly launched Technology and Innovation concentration in the undergraduate program, and in a variety of novel electives in the MBA program. The strategy group also offers unique opportunities to closely mentor and collaborate with our doctoral students. Recently, doctoral students in strategy have pursued research on various topics such as corporate venture capital, competition in technology platforms, and the effect of employee mobility on technological change and learning.
Strategy Faculty
Jeongsik "Jay" Lee is an Assistant Professor. He received his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on the economics of innovation, technology management, and social networks. Jay's work has been published in premier outlets such as Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, and Research Policy.
Jade Y. Lo is an Assistant Professor. She received her PhD from the University of Southern California. Her research seeks to understand the dynamics of categories and institutions in the marketplace, the emergence of new industries or organizational fields, and the processes and mechanisms underlying innovation endeavors. Jade's work has been published in or forthcoming at premier outlets such as Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, and Research Policy. She currently serves on the editorial review board of Organization Science.
Dali Ma is an Associate Professor. He received his PhD in sociology from the University of Chicago. His research interests are organization theory, status, social networks, the sociology of science and technology, and the sociology of China. Dali's research has been published in premier outlets such as Academy of Management Journal and Social Forces. His awards include the William Newman Award from the Academy of Management for the best paper based on a dissertation.
Rajiv Nag is an Assistant Professor. He received his PhD from Penn State University. Using grounded theory and a mixed-method approach he seeks to develop a knowledge and identity-based perspective on strategic leadership in contexts of organizational flux and adversity. His work has been published in premier outlets such as Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Operations Management. Rajiv currently serves on the editorial review board of Academy of Management Journal and as the program chair for the Strategizing Activities and Practices Interest Group at the Academy of Management.
VK Narayanan is Deloitte Touche Jones Stubbs Professor of management. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests are strategy process, the philosophy of science, and technology and innovation. VK's current work focuses on strategy execution and blockchain technologies. His research has been published in premier outlets such as Strategic Management Journal, Research Policy, and Journal of Management.
Daniel Tzabbar is an Associate Professor. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto. His research focuses on the intersection of technology innovation management, strategic human capital and entrepreneurship. Daniel's work has been published in premier outlets such as Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science and Journal of Management, where he also serves as an editorial review board member. His awards include the Best Dissertation Award from the Technology Innovation Management Division of the Academy of Management.
