The Department of Management in the Bryan School of Business & Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations for a full-time opening in the Department of Management. The position will commence on August 1, 2019, at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-track).
Applicants should hold a PhD degree with specialization in Strategy or related field from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school. ABDs who are assured of completion by August 1, 2019, may be considered.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in international strategy and innovation topics. A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience and evidence of successful high-quality refereed journal scholarship will be considered positively. We seek applicants who can tie their teaching and research to key elements of our mission (problem solving, innovation, globalization, sustainability, and ethics) and have an interest in working with student consulting projects.
The Department of Management offers two undergraduate degree majors, in International Business, and Business Administration with concentrations in Business Studies (online), Human Resources, and Management; an online Master of Science in International Business; and contributes to delivering the undergraduate business core and the MBA program. The Department is seeking state approval to offer an online PhD in Business Administration commencing in Fall of 2019, which is the basis for this position. Our faculty members are very active in research and in the past five years have published in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Human Relations, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Leadership Quarterly, and Strategic Management Journal, to name a few.
The Bryan School has over 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 100 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments and programs. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors and accolades. The faculty and students are both impressive. For example, in 2015 the faculty members averaged 2.2 peer reviewed journal articles, published eight books, and occupied 57 editorial positions with journals (editor, associate editor, guest editor, or editorial board member). Students have traditionally performed well in national and regional competitions. The School takes great pride in being the most diverse business school in the UNC system. Greensboro is the third largest city in NC with approximately 270,000 people in a MSA of some 1.6 million. Ideally located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, Greensboro is only a few hours from either beach or mountain. The city boasts a rapidly developing fine arts center, child friendly venues and a multitude of outdoor amenities. With seven higher education institutions in the immediate area, a large industrial base, and proximity to the Research Triangle, it is an attractive location for dual career families.
