Faculty Positions in General Management (Strategy)
The Ivey Business School at Western University seeks candidates for faculty positions in the area of General Management (Strategy). Applicants will be considered for a Probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor; and for a Limited Term or Visiting appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Professor. The positions are expected to begin in July 2019, although alternate starting dates may be arranged.
The Ivey Strategy group seeks candidates with a demonstrated ability to engage in high-quality research and contribute to a collegial research-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will match well with the group's existing focus on qualitative empirical work in areas such as competitive dynamics, learning, sensemaking, behavioral strategy, routines, capabilities, and strategy practice. Successful candidates will also be able to teach Strategy in our student-centered, case-based undergraduate, MBA, or EMBA, MSc or PhD programs. Possible ranks are as follows:
Probationary (Tenure-Track) Position: Applicants for a Probationary (tenure-track) appointment are expected to have completed or be nearing completion of their Ph.D. (or equivalent degree). Applicants should also be able to contribute to the General Management (Strategy) area group's research focus and be able to publish in the highest quality academic and practitioner outlets. The ability to teach in strategic management in undergraduate and/or MBA courses using a case discussion format is essential.
Tenured Position: Applicants for a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor will hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent degree). The successful candidate will have published in the highest quality academic outlets and will be a recognized expert in his or her field of research, as demonstrated through a rigorous research program, external research funding, and invited talks and conference presentations. A demonstrated record of teaching excellence in strategic management in undergraduate, MBA, and executive education using a case discussion format is required.
Limited Term Position: Applicants considered for a Limited Term appointment are expected to have an MBA or related graduate degree plus significant industry experience, or have or be nearing completion of their doctorate. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in case teaching in core undergraduate and/or MBA courses using a case discussion format.
