The focus of this special issue is the implications of recent changes in the geo-political environment for international business and firm strategy. Whether it be renewed populism, nationalism or de-globalization, recent events generate serious challenges for firms operating internationally. Trade agreements, tax policy, government spending priorities, immigration policy, media censorship, data privacy, consumer protection, national security and, more broadly, sentiment directed towards foreign-owned firms or foreign employees are all in flux in a manner that could differentially impact multinational and domestic firms.

We seek theoretical and empirical work that sheds light on the likely implications of these recent changes for international business, as well as work that leverages the changing global context to draw broader implications for firm strategy. Topics of particular relevance may include multinational organization and firm scope, global sourcing, economic geography and location strategies, technological innovation, and non-market strategy. Qualitative and quantitative studies are equally welcome, as are studies grounded in economics, sociology, psychology, political science or other disciplines. In keeping with Strategy Science's mission, submitted papers should focus on questions related to firm strategy rather than, for example, public policy or political economy.

Manuscripts for the special issue are to be submitted by March 31st, 2018. Manuscripts that do not appear to fit the topical focus of the special issue will be considered, with the authors' approval, for a regular issue of Strategy Science. Strategy Science is a quarterly journal looking to publish a small set of high-quality articles in each issue that address central topics in the field. Authors can expect rapid and high-quality reviews by appropriate leading scholars in the field and clear editorial guidance should a revision be requested.
