Strategy Research Community:
We are delighted to share two very special issues of Strategy Science edited by Giovanni Gavetti and Joe Porac on the Origin of Great Strategies. Giovanni and Joe were able to attract an outstanding set of authors to reflect on this most basic of strategy questions and, with the support of Joe Podolny, held a symposium on this topic at Apple University. The result of that effort are the December 2017 and March 2018 issues of Strategy Science. The authors of the contributions are: Bill Barnett, Adam Brandenburger, Ron Burt & Giuseppe Soda, John de Figueiredo & Brian Silverman, Kathy Eisenhardt & Chris Bingham, Teppo Felin & Todd Zenger, Thomas Fink, Pankaj Ghemawat & Martin Reeves, Dan Levinthal, Willie Ocasio & John Joseph, Joel Podolny, Tom Powell, Huggy Rao & Sunasir Dutta, Violina Rindova & Luis Martin, Melissa Schilling, Richard Whittington. Giovanni Gavetti and Joe Porac provide a concluding essay that pulls together these individual contributions within an integrative framework.
