    Dear Colleagues,

Feel free to share with your students!

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. The GDPR aims primarily to give control to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU.  It was adopted on 14 April 2016,[2] and after a two-year transition period, becomes enforceable on 25 May 2018.  The much talked about GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the new EU data protection law that can also apply to organizations outside Europe, processing records of persons in the EU. What's more, it carries a maximum penalty of 4% of the global annual turnover.

M3 Center at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee and the Association of North America Higher Education International (ANAHEI) bring you a panel to discuss the implications of GDPR on May 23, 2018 at 11am New York Time (4pm UK, 5pm Berlin, 6pm Helsinki)  The panel will identify the main changes will be brought by the new European law and discuss the background and the implications of a corner-stone legislation, with a slight accent on data use in marketing advertisement.
