Dear Division members,
The Strategic Management Division's Teaching Committee is providing a new source of teaching-related support for our members. In the Division's most recent 5-year review, completed in 2016 by professors Alfonso Gambardella, Matthew Bidwell and Giada di Stefano on behalf of the Executive Committee, your feedback indicated a need for greater support in this area, especially by sharing innovations related to teaching strategy courses.
In response, the Teaching Committee launched a new project that complements our Division's successful teaching-related activities - such as Professional Development Workshops and Consortia - that take place every year during the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. Our new project is about bringing you innovative teaching ideas and practices from faculty members doing some of the best teaching in our field. We call these faculty members our Division's "Teachers for Strategy Teachers."
We are grateful for support on launching this project from current and past officers and members in our Executive Committee - especially Mary Benner, Xavier Martin, Govert Vroom, Nan Jia, and Paolo Aversa – as well as the Teaching Committee - especially Peter G. Klein who originated the project, and Ronnie Chatterji.
You can access the contents of our first three interviews at the following links on our Division's website:
- Teaching strategy within innovation ecosystems – Prof. Ron Adner, Dartmouth College

- Teaching strategy in the online format – Assoc. Prof. Pinar Ozcan, University of Warwick

- Teaching strategy using "caselets" – Prof. Jeffrey T. Macher, Georgetown University

You can also reach these contents through the Division's updated website: http://www.strdiv.org and clicking through to "Teaching" and "All levels" (other great teaching-related content is available on this website.)
In the coming weeks and months, we will be adding new contents featuring innovative teaching ideas and practices from Professors Tammy Madsen, Anita McGahan, Regina Herzlinger, Russ Coff, W. Chan Kim, Renee Mauborgne and others.
If you'd like to nominate faculty members known for the innovativeness of their strategy classes, please get in touch with me, Hakan Ener, from the Teaching Committee, at: hener@iese.edu
We hope that you will benefit from this new area of support, and we welcome your feedback.
