    8th Midwest Strategy Meeting, 8-9 June 2017

    Call for Papers

We are happy to formally announce the call for papers for the 8th annual Midwest Strategy Meeting (MSM), to be held at Iowa State University, 8-9 June (Th/Fr) 2017.

The MSM is an annual forum for Midwestern strategy scholars to interact and comment on each other's research. Some of the goals are to:

    1) Focus on untenured faculty and early stage research,

    2) Provide high quality feedback and a bit longer presentations than some other conferences,

    3) Develop a regional community of friendly reviewers and collaborators, and

    4) Expose Ph.D. students to prominent strategy scholars in the region.

Below is a description of the types of submissions sought.

    Untenured Faculty Paper Submissions

Untenured professors are encouraged to submit a working paper (i.e., a paper that has not been published nor accepted for publication). We have assembled a great group of faculty that will serve as discussants, and we have an active strategy group here at Iowa State University.

    Doctoral Student Submissions

Doctoral students are encouraged to submit working papers (i.e., an unpublished or unaccepted paper).  Submitted papers will be matched with reviewers with the intent of providing developmental and high quality feedback.

    Paper Length and Topics

Submissions are requested to be 20 to 30 pages in length, excluding references and tables. There is no set format for submissions, but please pick a format (e.g., AOM, SMJ) and have it be consistent within a submission. Additionally, submissions are sought under the broad umbrella of strategy to include: Corporate Strategy (M&A and divestment); Competitive Strategy; Cooperative Strategy; Top Management Teams; International Business, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Ethics.  To further encourage submissions on CSR and ethics, a "best paper" award of $1,000 will be given for a paper making a contribution in the area of corporate social responsibility and ethics.

    Logistics

The submission deadline is **15 April 2017 **. Submissions will be managed using EasyChair, and can be submitted at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=msm20170. We will make program decisions and inform participants by mid-May 2017.

If you are tenured faculty and would like to attend without submitting a paper, please contact a member of the organizing committee, so we can plan for attendance.  Finally, we look forward to hosting the 8th annual Midwest Strategy Meeting!

    Sincerely,

    Sam DeMarie
