-----PLEASE JOIN US FOR A WORKSHOP ON NETWORK EVOLUTION AND DYNAMICS!-----
Taking as a point of departure the 2008 conference theme – The Questions We Ask – we asked four well-known network researchers to take stock of the questions they ask (and don't). And, based on this stock-taking, to develop a brief presentation reflecting on and beginning to tackle the puzzles, conundrums, points of confusion, and unanswered questions currently bedevil them.
During the workshop, each researcher will discuss his current perspective and related puzzles, conundrums, and bedevilments. The researchers and the issues on which they will focus are:
? RON BURT: Endogenous forces in network decay and persistence
? MARK EBERS: When, why, how and with what effects do what types of networks evolve (differently)?
? MARTIN GARGIULO: Exogenous and endogenous drivers of network change
? RAY REAGANS: The dark side of small world social networks
Following their presentations, we will hold a series of 20-minute round-robin small(er)-group discussions, permitting participants to interact with each of the researchers to 1) further develop the ideas and issues summarized in their presentations, and 2) get participants' help with the issues that bedevil them.
After the round-robin discussions, we will conclude with each researcher reporting on the most promising ideas that emerged during the discussions.
The PDW will take place Saturday, August 9 from 12-3PM in the Anaheim Convention Center, room 303B
No registration required.
SEE YOU THERE!
