Post-doc (Research Officer) position : social Entrepreneurship and service innovation in europe

Fixed term appointment for 30 months starting in Summer/Fall 2008.

Applications will be considered from outstanding candidates with a disciplinary background in economics and/or sociology and an interest in strategy and/or entrepreneurship to work as part of an EU funded project “Social Entrepreneurs as Lead Users for Service Innovation”.

You will be based at the department of Strategic Management, complement the team of the IESE Platform for Strategy and Sustainability (IPSS), and contribute to a project involving London School of Economics, the Harvard Business School, SITE at Stockholm School of Economics, Catholic University of Leuven, as well as several non-academic partners: i-propeller, The Hub, NESsT, and the Global Institute.

The project aims at furthering our understanding of the founding conditions and decisions of emerging social enterprises in the EU through e.g. the development and analysis of a unique panel dataset on 800 emerging social enterprises in early phase of firm maturity. Furthermore, the project wishes to evolve and pilot-test several novel ‘open business models’ that might help companies or public sector organizations access and leverage the intelligence of emerging social entrepreneurs in their service innovation strategies. The project places an emphasis on economic, managerial and behavioural perspectives with empirical, theoretical and experimental methodologies.

Applicants should have an outstanding record in a PhD/DBA program, and strong demonstrated potential and interest to conduct research at the forefront in these and closely related fields. Applicants should also have a strong interest in liaising with fellow academics and post-docs at the European academic partner institutions, as well as social entrepreneurs and network organizations that support social entrepreneurs. Managerial and language skills, as well as research experience at an international level will be much appreciated.

The benefit that comes with this job is an opportunity to work closely with a strong interdisciplinary team in a leading research-led department and to shape an emergent field of research.
