    Journal of Management Call for Review Issue Proposals

     

    Talya Bauer, incoming editor of the Journal of Management and the associate editor team, consisting of Wendy Boswell, Mark Griffin, Michael Leiblein, Steven Michael, Laura Poppo, Miguel Quiñones, Deborah Rupp, Deidra Schleicher, Christopher Shook, Jeremy Short, and Donald Truxillo invite Proposals for the December 2009 Review Issue for the Journal of Management which are due by July 30, 2008.

     

    Details are posted below and included in the attached document. Please excuse any cross-listings that may occur.

     

    JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT CALL FOR PROPOSALS

    2009 DECEMBER REVIEW ISSUE

     

    The editorial board of the Journal of Management would like to invite authors to submit proposals for the December 2009 Review Issue. Articles for the Review Issue tend be high-impact scholarly surveys of important research literatures. They summarize recent research, provide integrations of management literatures, and highlight important directions for future inquiries. The Review Issue is open to all areas of management. This includes manuscripts pertaining to such disciplines as strategy, entrepreneurship, human resource management, organizational behavior, organizational theory, and research methods.

     

    Proposals should be submitted as an e-mail attachment to:

    Proposals should contain no more than five to ten pages of text and be double-spaced. An appendix containing example references that will be included in the final manuscript is appropriate, but not required.

    References, tables, and appendices do not count against the page limit. All proposals will be subject to editorial review. It is also acceptable to submit a completed manuscript, though doing so confers no special advantage.

     

    Submissions will be evaluated with respect to the following criteria:

     

    (a) Relevance. The proposed manuscript should thoroughly review a significant and important research area within the organizational sciences.

     

    (b) Viability. The proposal should represent an achievable project within the tight time constraints required. More detail on the timeline is provided below.

     

    (c) Scope of Interest. Papers of broad interest to scholars in a variety of specialty areas are greatly preferred.

     

    (d) Organization and Coherence. The proposal should follow a logical structure, read clearly, and thoroughly represent the available research.

     

    (e) Insight for Future Work. The proposal should convey important implications for future management scholars.

     

    Due to editorial constraints, it is vital for authors to adhere to the following strict timeline. We will not be able to accept late submissions.

     

    Relevant dates are as follows:

    July 30, 2008: Proposals due to the Journal of Management

    October 1, 2008: Final decision on proposal and initial feedback provided to authors.

    March 30, 2009: First draft of paper due to the Journal of Management.

    May 1, 2009: Feedback to authors on first draft.

    July 1, 2009: Final paper submitted to the Journal of Management.

    December 15, 2009: Manuscript appears in Volume 35, Issue 6.
