Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Any area of Business
Studies)
(2 year fixed term contract commencing 1 January 2006)
Salary within the range �23,182 - �26,470 pa
(depending on experience) � RA1A
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work
on two research projects in the broad area of the
social dynamics of strategizing activity and practice.
The first project deals with the social dynamics of
implementing conflicting strategies in regulated
firms, while the second examines the adoption and
adaptation of management education tools and
technologies in practice. The research fellow will
work closely with Dr Paula Jarzabkowski on these
projects, which she is undertaking as an Advanced
Institute of Management (AIM) Fellow.
Candidates should have completed or be about to
complete a PhD in any area of Business Studies,
particularly Strategy, Organization Theory or
Management Accounting as a social practice. The
position primarily requires strong qualitative data
collection and analysis skills, although competence in
quantitative survey methods is also desirable. A
demonstrated ability to manage relationships for
in-depth case study access is essential to the
position. The successful applicant will assist with
qualitative data collection and some quantitative data
collection, carry out qualitative analysis and may be
required to do some survey data analysis, undertake
literature reviews and contribute to other aspects of
the projects as required. There will also be the
opportunity to attend conferences and present papers
on the projects. An interest in one of the areas of
the research will be considered an advantage.
The post will be based in the Economics and Strategy
Group and will be supervised by Dr. Paula
Jarzabkowski.
