Department of Management. The Department of Management is one of the pillars of excellence that makes the W. P. Carey School distinctive. The W. P. Carey School's management research productivity was recently ranked third internationally in terms of publications in premier journals from 1997 to 2001. (See http://www.kelley.indiana.edu/ardennis/rankings/.) This is a dramatic improvement over the 21st place ranking reported in a related article (Trieschman et al., 2001, AMJ) covering a previous time period. These rankings validate a vision adopted nine years ago by ASU's Department of Management to be recognized as a top 20 leader in research and education that develops and promotes effective managerial practices. The intellectual capacity represented by the climb in research rankings has been translated into significant upgrading of our curriculum, including a strong Ph.D. program.
