    The Department of Management in the <st1:place><st1:placetype>College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Business</st1:placename></st1:place> at <st1:place><st1:placename>Northern</st1:placename> <st1:placename>Illinois</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>University</st1:placetype></st1:place> is pleased to invite applications for two tenure-track positions, at assistant or advanced assistant level, in Strategy.  The appointments will begin in the fall of 2007. 

     

    We seek applicants with a Ph.D. in Business/Business Administration/Management with a specialization in Strategic Management from an AACSB-accredited school.  Candidates with an interest and background in international management, entrepreneurship, or innovation are especially encouraged to apply.  A.B.D. applicants will be considered but must indicate the current status of their dissertation and anticipated progress towards completion.  Applicants must show potential as successful scholars in strategic management and effective teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.   Refereed publications, conference presentations, and related business experience are desired.  Support for research activity is offered and includes summer support, graduate assistants, and a reduced teaching load.  Salary range is competitive.

    <st1:place><st1:placename>Northern</st1:placename> <st1:placename>Illinois</st1:placename> <st1:placetype>University</st1:placetype></st1:place> is the second-largest public university in the state of <st1:state><st1:place>Illinois</st1:place></st1:state>.  It is a comprehensive university with about 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students located in <st1:place><st1:city>DeKalb</st1:city>, <st1:state>Illinois</st1:state></st1:place>.  Housed in a new $22 million facility, the college is located in one of the country's most vibrant regions and is just 65 miles west of downtown <st1:city><st1:place>Chicago</st1:place></st1:city>.  University-owned educational centers in <st1:place>Hoffman Estates</st1:place>, <st1:city><st1:place>Naperville</st1:place></st1:city>, and <st1:city><st1:place>Rockford</st1:place></st1:city> provide venues for classroom and outreach activities in suburban <st1:city><st1:place>Chicago</st1:place></st1:city> locations.

    The <st1:place><st1:placetype>College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Business</st1:placename></st1:place>, founded in 1961, has gained national recognition for the quality of its programs, faculty, and students.  It was ranked in the top 30% of accredited undergraduate programs in 2006 by U.S. News and World Report.  The largest business college in <st1:state><st1:place>Illinois</st1:place></st1:state> and the 19th largest in the nation, the <st1:place><st1:placetype>College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Business</st1:placename></st1:place> has approximately 3,100 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.  All programs are fully accredited by the AACSB.  More information about the <st1:place><st1:placetype>College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Business</st1:placename></st1:place> can be obtained at http://www.cob.niu.edu

    The Management Department has 13 full-time faculty members who are dedicated to delivering a dynamic and innovative curriculum and engaging in strong scholarship. They teach in the undergraduate, evening MBA, Executive and Professional MBA programs in the areas of strategy, organizational behavior, human resources, entrepreneurship, communications, and law.
