Call for papers:
We are soliciting paper proposals (1 page) for the “Handbook of
Strategy Process Research” that will be published by Edward Elgar
Publishing.
The “Handbook of Strategy Process Research” is designed to provide
comprehensive coverage of strategy process related topics for scholars
interested in strategy process. By the chosen topics, however, the book
should also appeal to the wider audience of strategy and
entrepreneurship scholars. The book will be edited by Pietro Mazzola
(Iulm University and Bocconi University) and Franz Kellermanns
(Mississippi State University).
Both senior as well as young scholars have already agreed to contribute
papers to the book. Amongst others, the following scholars have already
agreed to participate: Joe Astrachan, John Carr, Jim Chrisman, Jess
Chua, Vittorio Coda, Greg Dess, Steven Floyd, Charles Fombrun, Dev
Jennings, Christoph Lechner, Tom Lumpkin, Gaia Marchisio, Edoardo
Mollona, Markus Venzin, Jorge Walter, Bill Wooldridge and Kenneth
Zantow.
We are soliciting proposals for four sections of the book.
The first section will contain general reflections on strategy process
related topics. This section will be dominated by senior scholars in the
field of strategy process. Here, the genesis and future directions for
strategy process research will be elaborated on.
The second section will contain strategy process related essays
pertaining intended strategies. Here scholars may present research
regarding different approaches which managers may use to develop a new
strategy (or to rejuvenate an old one), as well as critical processes
needed to put it into action.
The third section will contain strategy process related essays
pertaining to emerging strategies. Here, scholars will present research
regarding the contribution of corporate entrepreneurship and
entrepreneurial orientation to the strategy process, as well as the
processes through which managers select and support the most appropriate
strategic initiatives.
The final section of the book will contain strategy process related
essays pertaining to special topics that have not been widely
investigated in strategy process research, but offer tremendous promise
for the field. Here scholars will present research regarding the
specificity of strategy-making processes in extraordinary situations
(crises, alliances, mergers and acquisitions) as well as in special firm
categories (family firms, financial services industries, international
companies).
We are now soliciting proposals (1/page max) for each of the four
sections of the book by March 15th. Final contributions will have a page
limit of 30 double spaced pages including text, tables, figures and
references. Papers will be subject to editorial and/or peer review.
Below follows the more detailed time-line (Please note, the time from
