The Department of Management in the <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename> at <st1:placename w:st="on">Northern</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Illinois</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> invites applications for a tenure-track position, at assistant or associate level, in the Department of Management at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Northern</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Illinois</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place> beginning in the fall of 2008.

<st1:placename w:st="on">Northern</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Illinois</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype>, the second-largest public university in the state of <st1:state w:st="on">Illinois</st1:state>, is a comprehensive university with about 24,000 students located in <st1:city w:st="on">DeKalb</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">Illinois</st1:state>, which is 65 miles west of downtown <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chicago</st1:city></st1:place>. Housed in a new $22 million facility, the college is located in one of the country's most vibrant regions. University-owned educational centers in Hoffman Estates, <st1:city w:st="on">Naperville</st1:city>, and <st1:city w:st="on">Rockford</st1:city> provide venues for classroom and outreach activities in suburban <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chicago</st1:city></st1:place> locations. The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> has approximately 3,100 undergraduate and 800 graduate students. The Management Department has 14 full-time faculty members who are dedicated to delivering a dynamic and innovative curriculum and engaging in strong scholarship. They teach in the undergraduate, evening MBA, Executive and Professional MBA programs in the areas of strategy, organizational behavior, human resources, entrepreneurship, communications, and law. Applications
We seek applicants with a Ph.D. (or A.B.D) in Business/Business Administration/Management with a specialization in Strategic Management from an AACSB-accredited school. Candidates with a specific background in international management or entrepreneurship are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must show potential as successful scholars, effective teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be able to work collegially within the department and college. Refereed publications, conference presentations, and related business experience are desired. For appointment at the Associate level, a research record commensurate with experience is required. Support for research activity is offered and includes summer support, travel support, graduate assistants, and a reduced teaching load.
Interested applicants must send their letter of application, CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters of reference. A.B.D. applicants must indicate the current status of their dissertation and anticipated progress towards completion. Position is open until filled, but review of applications will begin on July 6, 2007.
