AOM PDW on Alliance Portfolios

The objective of this PDW is to expose participants to recent and emerging
research on the topic of alliance portfolios, which has become a central issue
of concern to scholars in the fields of strategic management, organization
theory, international business, and technology management. This PDW will
provide a stage for discussing the theoretical and empirical challenges in the
study of alliance portfolios, and identifying prospective directions for future
research in this area. This PDW will be of great interest to those broadly
interested in the study of alliances and networks. In particular, this PDW will
addresses themes related to the management of alliance portfolios and their
performance implications.
In the first part of the PDW, each panelist will highlight his perspective on
current and emerging issues in alliance portfolio research, discussing the
current state of the literature, identifying the challenges and prospects of
recent research, and setting the foundations for a future research agenda on
alliance portfolios. The second part of the PDW will be organized in a
theme-related round table format, in which the panelists will lead discussion
of specific issues related to the theoretical and empirical investigation of
each theme.
