The Organization and Management Theory Division is organizing a PDW entitled "Learning from Micro and Macro Investigations of Group Decision Processes" at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Philadelphia.  The PDW be held on Saturday, August 4th from 9am to 12pm at The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, room 305

The PDW will explore and compare micro and macro approaches to examining group decision processes, which have all too often developed in isolation. There will be significant focus on how research in the micro stream can inform research in the macro stream (and vice versa). The PDW brings together a panel of researchers who have researched one or both approaches to group research. The PDW will provide value to researchers working on decision making theory. It is interactive in nature and discussion of issues relating to ongoing research will be encouraged.

In the first part of the PDW, a few of the panelists will address the themes of the session and reflect on their experiences in studying group decision processes using a combination micro/macro approach.  Subsequently we will have small group discussions facilitated by panelists. The goal is to allow a fruitful discussion between participants who wish to expand and enrich their studies of group decision processes with ideas from other approaches. Finally, one person from each table will be asked to provide the highlights of their discussions.

Pre-registration is required to attend. Interested participants who are keen on sharing and learning the experiences and challenges of these different approaches to studying group processes are requested to send their current CV and a brief statement about how this PDW will help their research efforts to Aaron Windeler, Sam M.
