    Workshop on Case Method of Teaching in Management
    April 6-7, 2007

    This workshop intends to sharpen the Case Teaching skills of management teachers of undergraduate and graduate management programs as well as corporate trainers.

    Objectives:

    To help

    Appreciate the role of Case Method
    In taking up the role of instructor in Case Method
    In choosing appropriate cases
    In preparing for handling cases
    Develop skills in in-class handling of Cases
    In preparation of Teaching Note

    Number of Participants

    Maximum of 30.
    Preference to those with opportunity to write cases and / or use Case Method

    Resource Persons

    Prof. L. S. Murty is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Professor in Operations Management at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He had a stint in planning at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and had taught at Xavier’s Labor Relations Institute at Jamshedpur as well as Xavier Institute of Management at Bhubaneshwar. Prof. Murty is a consultant to several organizations and has conducted many Executive Development Programs. He has conducted workshops on Case Method for Executives and Management School Teachers sponsored by Canadian Consortium of Management Schools and is one of the nationally renowned resource persons for Case Method.

    Prof. A Sreekumar is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and presently Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies at Goa University. He has varied experience in Industry and Academics and is a resource person for Case Method at various institutes. He is Academic Advisor to D C School of Management, Kerala and a visiting faculty to institutions such as Indian Institute of Management at Kozhikode. He has done / guided research on Tourism Industry of Goa.

    Workshop Fee

    1. Teachers from institutions aided by State / Central Governments of India: Rs. 3000/- per participant.
    2. Teachers from Self Financing Educational Institutions: Rs. 4000/- per participant.
    3. Participants from Industry: Rs. 5000/- per participant.

    (Group discount of Rs. 500/- per participant will be given for more than three participants from the same institution / firm)

    Payment may be made by way of Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce’ payable at Mapusa, Goa, India.

    Last date for receiving nominations: March 20th, 2007
    Notification of acceptance of nominations: March 22nd, 2007

    Accommodation

    Accommodation will be provided at the University Guest House on twin sharing basis on the days of workshop.
    Accommodation at the International Centre Goa can be arranged, however the actual tariff will have to be born by the participants. (The tariff is around Rs. 1000/- per day).

    Goa University has its campus located in the natures lap on the outskirts of capital city of Goa, Panaji in India. Goa is an international beach tourism destination.
    GUFMS runs an MBA Program as well as a PhD program in the campus and BBA, PGDM, etc. through affiliated Colleges. The pedagogy is predominantly Case Method of Teaching for undergraduate as well as graduate programs.

    DM College of Arts, Science and Commerce is run under a charitable institution founded in 1908 is devoted to the cause of knowledge and education. It manages several educational institutions imparting education from pre-primary to post graduate level. The college offers BA, B.SC, BCOM, BBA, BCA and M.Com courses affiliated to Goa University and has been accredited by NAAC with B+ grade.
