Entrepreneurship Faculty Position
Appalachian State University's Department of Management invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of
Assistant or Associate beginning August 2008. With an existing
Management major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, and a minor
in Entrepreneurship for non-business students planned for fall 2008,
there is ample support and demand for Entrepreneurship education at
Appalachian. Interaction with a supportive, entrepreneurial business
community provides numerous opportunities for scholarly research and
other activities. You will join a department of 22 faculty, including 2
entrepreneurship faculty, and work with the Center for Entrepreneurship
staff.
You will be expected to provide instruction in entrepreneurship,
maintain an active program of scholarship, participate in the activities
of the Center for Entrepreneurship, and contribute to other service
activities. Necessary qualifications include: (a) Ph.D. or ABD with
degree completed prior to appointment, (b) demonstrated accomplishments
in teaching and research, and (c) enthusiasm for working with students.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina,
Appalachian State University has built a national reputation for

The university is located in Boone, North Carolina, a small town
(year-round population of 15,000) which thrives as one of the
Southeast's premier tourism and outdoor recreation destinations. At
3,333 feet, Boone is the highest city of its size (over 10,000) east of
the Mississippi River. Boone has mild summers, a dramatic leaf season,
and winter snows with nearby skiing. The nearby Blue Ridge Parkway and
Pisgah National Forest provide a beautiful natural setting with
extensive possibilities for outdoor adventure. Live in one of National
Geographic Adventure magazine's "50 Top Adventure Towns."
The Walker College of Business has approximately 2,500 students and is
accredited by the AACSB at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Faculty in the Department of Management teach courses in 4 undergraduate
programs with majors in Management (on- and off-campus), International
Business, Health Care Management and Hospitality & Tourism Management.
In addition to the Entrepreneurship concentration, the department also
supports a Human Resource Management concentration, on- and off-campus
MBA programs, and a Masters program in Industrial-Organizational
Psychology and Human Resource Management.
