    Hi all

    How does state policy influence business growth? I got three responses, to me directly. Thakns! Here is a summary, in case folks are interested....

    Prof. Jennifer Woolley (Santa Clara University) has a paper entitled "The Impact of Public R&D Investment on Nanotechnology Entrepreneurship" which examines how public policies in R&D support affect entrepreneurial firms in the US, and I think it examines the variations on the state level. I believe this paper is in under the 2nd round review by Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.

    There's a special issue in the Academy of Management Review on "perspectives of how governments matter", you might find something there that might be of use to you.. It's from 2005 vol 30 (2).

    You might find a forthcoming issue of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice of interest.  It's a special issue on Government Policy and Entrepreneurship (the Sept 2008 issue, edited by Maria Minniti).  The issue just went to the printer
