government policy and business growth

    Hi all

    I was wondering if anyone could point me to some research that shows what government policies (state or federal) help businesses to grow or create growth business environments. Specifically I'm looking for research about business in the US, policies that help at the state level. Also, I'd much prefer if there is research available on the web, in peer reviewed journals or reports from major research organizations.

    I searched the archives through January 2008 at least and didn't find that, so I hope I'm not repeating something often asked. If I am, sorry.
